Darryl McDaniels (DMC) talks about and the new documentary, ‘Kings From Queens: The RUN DMC Story‘, is nothing shy of perfection.
It’s like, ‘Christmas in Hollis‘ whenever getting to talk to DMC and the new, ‘Kings From Queens: The RUN DMC Story‘, is nothing shy of perfection.
Back in ’82/’83 he made the word ‘Def‘, he’s tougher than leather and you’ll be illin’ if you call him a sucker MC. He’s the kind of rock that’s down with the king. He’s gone from St. John’s University to Darryl Makes Comics. We know that D is for never Dirty and MC for Mostly Clean, some call him Darryl MC, other’s call him DMC, but his parents named him Darryl McDaniels and if not for him, Joseph Simmons (aka Rev Run) and the late, deeply missed Jason William Mizell (aka Jam Master Jay), rap music would never be on the radio 24/7.
From what was once thought to be a fad to celebrating half a century of Hip-Hop culture, Rap music has been proven to be here to stay and if not for RUN DMC, the mainstream would have never caught on to what was already known in New York and the other big cities.
‘Kings From Queens: The RUN DMC Story‘ is a new docuseries based on the legendary trio from elementary school all the way to today.
I never get tired of saying I got to see RUN DMC during the, ‘Crown Royal‘ tour at The Fillmore in San Francisco, in May of 2001 and for my 9th birthday, received ‘Raising Hell‘ as my first ever rap cassette. In my first interview with D, I got to spit bars from, ‘King of Rock‘, so it’s always important to put RUN DMC over as the reason we listen to Rap music today.
The interview above speaks for itself as the three part docuseries is not nearly long enough for my liking, but definitely gives you insight into who RUN DMC were, are and will always be, and even though they will never be able to perform as RUN DMC again with out Jam Master Jay, Rev Run and DMC will take to the stage on occasion reminding us that they had a shoe contract before Michael Jordan and were first on stage at Live Aid.
‘Kings From Queens: The RUN DMC Story‘is now streaming exclusively on Peacock.
