Director Eric Appel (Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Teachers, Son of Zorn) has taken on the challenge to turn what easily could have been a full-length feature film into 10, 10-minute episodes for the streaming service Quibi entitled Die Hart.
The series follows Kevin Hart, who plays an exaggerated version of himself in wanting to go from comic relief, sidekick into action hero. In order to do so, he must train with the absolutely insane Ron Wilcox (John Travolta), a man who takes method acting to an extreme.
Die Hart is part The Truman Show, part Last Action Hero, pure comedy and all Hart (yes, pun intended).
We caught up with Appel about the series now streaming on Quibi discussing the daily run of these hilarious episodes and the possibility of turning it into a full-length feature film on DVD.
