On July 17, Disneyland will be celebrating its 60th Anniversary. The Disney Twenty-Three, the Official Disney fan club, will be commemorating the occasion with a 40 pages of stories, artwork and pictures of Walt Disney’s Original Theme Park. Not only will there be a blast from Disneyland’s past, but also a look inside the party planned for the upcoming Diamond Celebration that will be kicking-off at the Disneyland Resort on May 22, 2015. Some of the planned celebrations include a new night time parade, a re-imagined World of Color show, enhancements to favorite attractions and a 24 hour kick-off event.
Included in the summer issue, exclusively for D23’s Gold Members, is a sneak peak into the Walt Disney Archives. This will include a chance for members to see an opening day media pass, and concept art for the promotion of the world’s first theme park. There will also be some of Disneyland’s signature treats such as the Dole Whip, churros, turkey leg and Mickey Mouse ice cream sandwich.
The summer issue is rounded out with a feature from film critic, Leonard Maltin, who will take readers through the next three big summer movies that Disney is releasing this summer. Maltin sits down with the Brad Bird, Pete Docter, and and Peyton Reed, the directors of Tomorrowland, Inside Out and Ant-Man respectively, for the inside scoop of the making of these highly anticipated films.
D23 Gold level members can expect the issue in late May. To join the club or find more information visit D23.com.
