Creator Samuel Haine and Artist Coordinator & Inker John Livesay talk to us About Slow City Blues being released by Zoop, a new crowd funding source that takes care of all your marketing and publishing needs.

Slow City Blues: Issue #2 Splash Pages 22 and 23.

Official Synopsis:

Slow City Blues is an ongoing series following Detective John Loris, who gets trapped inside his imagination after a horrible accident causes him to try and take his own life. John instead ends up in Slow City, a construct of his mind’s eye, a place where anything is possible – except a way out. There, he must battle his deeply-rooted inner demons and examine who he truly was before entering this purgatory.

In Slow City, John is reviled and feared as “The Trigger Man,” the one responsible for the existence of all. There, he does the only thing he knows how: solve crimes, with his partner (now a six-foot-six smart ass skunk called “Moof”). With his wife and son waiting back in the real world and his subconscious conspiring to keep him trapped in his imagination forever, John must overcome the worst parts of himself and defeat Death, in  his quest to find out whether he is worthy of enlightenment and happiness – or if he is beyond salvation.

We sat down via Zoom instead of at a brewery (thanks C-19!) to talk to Haine and Livesay about Slow City Blues came to life, what happens when the job you want but don’t gets leads you to creative freedom in creating your own project like Slow City Blues and how a company like Zoop was able to help these creators publish their books.

Haine and Livesay have put together an incredible team behind Slow City Blues with penciler Shawn Moll, colorist David Baron, letterer Thomas Mauer and story consultant Artisha Mann Cooper.

On top of that cover artists enlisted for Slow City Blues are David Finch, Paul Pope, Derrick Chew, Doug Mahnke, Brett Booth, Julian Totino  Tedesco, Francesco Mattina, Yasmine Putri, Howard Porter, Phillip Tan, Cary  Nord, Pat Olliffe, and Randy Green.

Slow City Blues will not only be available in graphic novel form, but loose, floppy individual comic books and soon to be at your local comic book shop.
