Legendary Comic Book Creator, Rob Liefeld talks to us about his five issue Snake Eyes: Deadgame run with IDW Publishing and the 30th Anniversary of X-Force.
Rob Liefeld is one of the most gracious people you will ever meet in any industry, but especially in comic books. Everytime we see each other, Liefeld always something he’s excited to chat about…or as much as he can because of Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDA).
Liefeld made a bucket list dream come true in working on a G.I. Joe title in Snake Eyes: Deadgame, a five issue run with IDW Publishing leading up to the the Snake Eyes film being released by Paramount Pictures. Liefeld has been a G.I. Joe fan since they were 12-inch figures and the evolution to G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero was released, Snake Eyes has been one of the ultimate favorites of fanboys and fangirls alike. I still have my original Snake Eyes action figure from the 1980s.
On top of all this, Liefeld made the announcement this week leading to the 30th Anniversary of X-Force from Marvel Entertainment this November.
Official Statement:
On July 7, 2021, Rob Liefeld will close out his run on the best-selling G.I.Joe title, Snake Eyes: Deadgame, from Hasbro and IDW! The fifth issue finale features an All-Star list of comic book legends providing inks and finishes to Rob’s penciled art. Not satisfied with just putting together an All-Star team, Rob decided to round out the cast by adding legendary artist and creator Kevin Eastman (TMNT), Ryan Ottley (Invincible, Amazing Spider-Man), Eric Canete (Justice League), and Karl Kerschl (Deadpool, Superman).
Not content with this unparalleled assemblage of All-Star talents, Liefeld wanted to take the event one step further. The Deadpool creator enlisted the Living Legend of G.I. JOE: A Real American Hero, Larry Hama. Rob will ink over Larry Hama’s pencils for a special once-in-a-lifetime collectible cover event.
Liefeld and I talk about a larger cameo for Deadpool 3, joke on how his daughter will take the stage name Bobbi Liefeld in honor of her father’s legacy in the arts, mention those rad Extreme Comics Letterman jackets, tease him about those button fly jeans and our future plans to grab burgers.
All five issues of Snake Eyes: Deadgame are available now at your local comic book store from IDW Publishing.
X-Force celebrates its 30th Anniversary from Marvel Entertainment in November, 2021.
