Comic Book-Based Games are a Big Hit on Gaming Sites

“The Dark Knight Rises”

The current era of Hollywood films has a heavy focus on superheroes. Classic comic book heroes like Batman and The Incredible Hulk have been given modern day reboots that have made them even more exciting than ever. The success of these films has led to some superhero names branching out into franchises. Now the likes of Captain America, Iron Man, and Superman are all seen in different ways other than films and comic books. One area in which synergy between two platforms has been successful, is the wide array of slot machines based on these hugely popular characters.

Slot machines have been one of the most played casino games for as long as gambling has existed, because they are simple and fun. But as gaming has evolved, so has the slot machine, and now there are hundreds of different themed slots at online casinos to attract as many different audiences as possible. The superhero genre lends itself well to slot machine gaming, because not only are the characters now household names, they also have great storylines surrounding them. Let’s take a look at two superhero slots on the market now, and think about which characters could soon be adapted to this gaming format as well.

The Dark Knight Rises

The Dark Knight Rises was the final instalment in Christopher Nolan’s critically acclaimed Batman trilogy, and it saw Batman claw his way out of the pits of hell to rescue Gotham from the clutches of Tom Hardy’s seemingly unbeatable mercenary, Bane.

In the slot game, which is one of many available slots for Canadian gamers at 32red, players get a chance to relive the epic battle between good and evil. Upon opening the game players will be instantly subjected to a stunning visual experience based on the film. This is a 5 reel slot game with 243 ways to win, and plenty of extra bonus features. During the game there are cinematic spins that show clips from the film and immerse the player in the original blockbuster experience.

Players must battle to save Gotham, with the help of characters from the film that include John Blake, Catwoman, and of course, Commissioner Gordon. The free spins accumulator is the special feature, and Bane and Batman fight randomly, awarding free spins and multipliers during the fight. The symbol scramble feature gives players an extra chance to win by moving symbols to create the best combo available.

The Incredible Hulk

Marvel’s The Incredible Hulk Slot is another game available at 32red, not to mention Titanbet and Jackpot247, amongst others. This is based on the 2008 film starring Edward Norton as the scientist desperately seeking a cure for the gamma radiation that contaminated his cells and turned him into the destructive green monster. The start of the slot game shows clips from the film to get players feeling the rage and ready to smash stuff.

This game feels a bit more cartoon based than the Batman slot, with colourful graphics. It has its own array of features that are unique to the Hulk character. The wilds are expanding Hulks, and create more winning combinations for the player. There is also a smash bonus where players smash three out of seven cars to reveal cash prizes, and one of three helicopters to receive a multiplier. The Hulk rage feature is triggered randomly, and gives players maximum returns.

The latest sensation from Marvel comics is Deadpool, a foul-mouthed, gun, sword, and innuendo wielding twist on the traditional superhero formula. The film has been well-received because of the way it has redefined the genre. Ryan Reynold’s wise cracking hero has been an instant success and could make a truly exciting slot game as well.

The game could have scenes from the film at the beginning as the Hulk slot has, and cinematic reels like in the Dark Knight Rises. It could also feature jokes from the film, and has potential for loads of special bonus games. For instance, Deadpool is invincible in the film, so players could have an invincibility bonus where they keep racking up wins on free spins for a certain amount of time.

With other new superheroes coming out this year, gamers can be sure to see plenty of new featured slot games with their own unique aspects and bonuses.
