Coffee Stain Studios, the twisted minds behind Goat Simulator, brings us a 1980s styled Hard-Boiled Arcade Shooter Huntdown
Developed by the talented duo of Tommy Gustafsson and Andreas Renberg, and their team at Easy Trigger, Huntdown is a classicly styled shooter set in a cyberpunk-ish future where police have lost control to the mighty gangs who now rule the streets. Players will hunt down gangs, going after their leaders, collecting bounties, and make a healthy living – by making living unhealthy.
This is Coffee Stain Publishing’s first project. Sebastian Badylak, VR Fanatic of Coffee Stain Publishing had this to say, “Just as everyone else (lol) we want to re-define game publishing, in our case by acting more as a partner for developers, than as a traditional publisher. Our goal is to push projects towards success under balanced and fair conditions. We will offer the deals that we would love to have signed ourselves as developers.”
CEO of Coffee Stain Publishing, Anton Westbergh, said this, “Coffee Stain Publishing will start small, by signing only a few select projects. This to ensure that we can maintain high focus while also allowing ourselves to enjoy the fun in game development together with our developers. I am thrilled about all this!”
It appears Coffee Stain publishing is looking to translate their success as a developer into publishing and take their same unique and entertaining approach from developing into publishing. From the looks of Huntdown’s trailer, it really seems like they know what they’re doing. Huntdown looks like Streets of Rage meets Metal Slug, and a splash of Neon Night-Riders from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles IV: Turtles in Time. This game looks ridiculously entertaining and I can’t wait to check it out. Unfortunately, I don’t know when it’s going to release, or what consoles, but since it’s a GDC trailer, I’m guessing we’ll find out sometime next weekend. For now, enjoy the trailer, some screenshots below, and know the game is in pre-alpha. So stay tuned with us here at FanboyNation as we stalk this game’s progress, and check out their site for more on the game.
