Do you love the Christmas season? Do you love tubing, ice skating, and huge ice sculptures? Then Queen Mary’s Chill event is perfect for you. This holiday event is set in the shadow of the Queen Mary (which has christmas lights on its stacks) in Long Beach, CA. Outside is an rink for ice skating, North Pole Village, The Claus Cabin, and Gingerbread House.
Inside the dome has the Ice Kingdom, tubing, and gift shop with tons of different Christmas ornaments for sale. The ice kingdom is 13,000-square feet of ice sculptors that feature 2 million pounds of ice. Its a nice cool 9 degrees in it, but Chill provides warm snow jackets from child small to adult XL. As you can see in our photo, myself, my wife and daughter were nice and warm inside them. You also need the jackets for my favorite activity inside the Ice Kingdom. You get to slide down ice! Thats right, they built these big slides out of the ice that slide out a giant ice sculptor of the Queen Mary. This year it now has 4 lanes of slides so the wait is not long at all. I personally went down the slides 10 times with hardly any wait. Also inside the dome is the ice tubing. The ice slide stands 2 stories tall and is 100 feet long. With your ticket you get UNLIMITED amount of times to go down it. Let me tell, it was such a rush because you go pretty fast down it. I think I went down about 10 times.
Outside at Candy Lane features 2 bounce house (one for kids and another for adults & kids). There are plenty of cool photo ops throughout the Candy Lane. Don’t forget to meet Santa himself at his cabin. At the Gingerbread House, you can decorate your own and get your photo taken with Ginny Gingerbread herself. Next door there are plenty of stage shows through out the night. On select nights are additional shows by DJs and bands. See calendar for schedule. There is also Swinging Sleight Ride (the ride from Michael Jackson’s house and Bucking Reindeer, think riding bull but with reindeer.
If this wasn’t enough for you, your tickets lets you board the Queen Mary herself. On board is a bunch of Christmas trees throughout her deck. My recommendation when you get there first thing go pick out your time slot for ice skating. With your ticket, you get a free hour of ice skating and skates. However you have to get a ticket for what time slot you want. Arrive 15 mins before your time slot so you can get your skates. If you are going to go into the bounce house as an adult, go in it in last. I’ll tell you one thing, it wears you out. Its a lot of fun, don’t get me wrong. Also, make sure to bring your own gloves and beanie for the Ice Kingdom, the jacket Chill provides is warm but don’t forget about your head and hands. Plus you gloves come in handy if you fall down while Ice Skating.
Overall, Queen Mary’s Chill event is a must this holiday season. A great value and also upgrade your ticket to E.L.F. (Express Lane Fast) for front of the line for attractions. For tickets and times please visit: http://www.queenmary.com/events/chill/
