Cary Elwes’ new dark comedy ‘The Hyperions‘ is a Clean Version of, ‘The Boys‘ and a social commentary genetic manipulation.

Similar to ‘The Boys‘ other superhero groups, G-Men and The Teenage Kix, all run by Vought International, ‘The Hyperions‘ are a group of teenage superheroes groomed by Professor Ruckus Mandulbaum in the early 1960s using a Titan Badge the once spliced to the users DNA, gives them abilities far beyond those of any average mortal being.

These teenagers are then trained to fight crime with their abilities, but similar to child actors when they lose their cuteness, the appeal wanes and newer, fresher faced trainees take their place, leaving the previous generation out in the cold.

Featuring Penelope Mitchell (Hellboy), Tanner Buchanan (Cobra Kai), Elaine Tan (Tully), and Alphonso McAuley (Walk of Shame) the cast of well known faces give credence to a film that couple have easily been dismissed as, “just another indie.”

‘The Hyperions‘ was written, produced, and directed by Jon McDonald (“Muddy Corman”) under his American Millimetre banner, creating a 1960s style heist film along with spooking educational videos of the time.

The commentary on the original ‘Hyperions‘ being discarded like disposable culture that we have seen time and time again with either youth celebrities, musicians or reality television stars while using superheroes to tell the story is a sign of the times in our worship of false gods while deifying wealth over morality.

‘The Hyperions‘ is a stylized film that should be watched by any parent thinking of putting their children in the public eye as well as any young adult looking to become famous at all costs, realizing the control of the branding machine is far more suppressive than the image of freedom given to that celebrity.
