Big Hero 6 Sequel fans wanted and didn’t know.
Big Hero 6 The Series is the Big Hero 6 sequel we’ve all been wanting and didn’t know. I equate it to being given a milkshake after you have been introduced to ice cream. You are entirely content and love ice cream, but this continued experience of being different, yet more of what you love, easily becomes your new favorite thing. Disney is bringing in producers Mark McCorkle and Bob Schooley as executive producers. McCorkle and Schooley are bringing with them Nick Flippi, who will serve as an executive producer and supervising director.
If the names of McCorkle, Schooley, and Flippi sound like nothing more than names of potential Little Rascals, you might not remember that this is the Emmy Award-winning team that created and produce Kim Possible. If you don’t remember Kim Possible then just know that is extremely good and exciting news.
Big Hero 6 The Series will pick up where the movie left off and will go deeper into the challenges Hiro, Baymax, and the team will face in school at San Fransokyo Institutde of Technology and outside of it with new scientifically enhanced villains.
There is no word on the cast, and also no word on any potential crossover of the Big Hero 6 team crossing over with the Marvel animated series. It is very unlikely we will get to see Hiro and Baymax team up with the Avengers or Agents of S.M.A.S.H., but they are all on Disney XD so there is hope. Also there is no word if the movie cast will reprise their roles in the series. It would be ideal for the original movie cast to be cast, but expect more of a Kung Fu Panda Series like situation that will involve some of the cast from the movie and some others who will do their best to capture the same sound and energy of the original voice actors.
Disney has a great track record of animated series, and have done well to do justice to all of their respective properties. Fans have every right and reason to be excited for this Big Hero 6 sequel, even if it is not the form they expected it in.
