Big Hero 6 is Disney’s first venture with Marvel in an animated feature. Loosely based on the comic of the same name, Big Hero 6 follows the adventures of Hiro Hamada (Ryan Potter) and Baymax (Scott Adsit), a medical robot prototype created by his brother Tadashi (Daniel Henny). In typical superhero story fashion, the brothers are orphaned and supported by Aunt Cass (Maya Rudolph) in the city of San Fransokyo.
Hiro enters a contest to be accepted in to the prestigious San Fransokyo Tech where he creates nanobots that could easily revolutionize the world. Unfortunately, a huge fire kills Tadashi who tries to save his inspiration, Professor Robert Callaghan (James Cromwell). It is assumed the culprit is industrialist, Alistair Krei (Alan Tudyk), Hiro and Baymax join forces with Tadashi’s friends Fred (T.J. Miller), GoGo (Jamie Chung) Wasabi (Damon Waynes Jr.) and Honey Lemon (Genesis Rodriguez) to find the suspected killer.Big Hero 6 is almost the Marvel version of The Incredibles. It’s fun, friendly and family orientated. This could easily be another Annie Award for Disney. The characters are easily to like, the interaction between our heroes are believable and as expected Baymax steals the show.
If you like family films, enjoy the Marvel Universe on DisneyXD, then Big Hero 6 is you animated feature of the fall.
Big Hero 6 opens nationwide on Friday, November 7, 2014.
