The Marvel presentation at the Diamond Baltimore Retailer Summit was exploding with news, some bigger than others. So let’s jump right in, shall we?
Jim Starlin and Alan Davis were announced on a new Thanos mini-series, The Infinity Entity, to tie in with the upcoming graphic novel Thanos: The Infinity Finale. This will be the end game for the character Starlin created all those years ago. Both the mini and OGN will hit shelves some time next year.
Dan Slott will be teaming up once again with Mike and Laura Allred on Silver Surfer. This is the unofficial cover that Mike was showing around Rose City Comic Con, now made official. The all-new, all-different series sees Norrin Radd bringing Dawn back to Earth, to her home town. A new villain however will test their relationship.
“We’ll definitely get back into space before too long, but after a long time away, we’re going to be reconnecting with the Earth and its inhabitants in a big way—and that includes both Dawn and the Surfer,” says series editor Tom Brevoort. “So expect to see a bevy of familiar faces from the past, some with super-powers, some without. And also expect to see the Surfer reacting to the changes that Secret Wars and the eight month gap have wrought on the Marvel Universe.”
Chelseas Cain, who fans know of from the Mockingbird: S.H.I.E.L.D. 50th Anniversary Special, will be returning to the character in an all-new, all-different Mockingbird ongoing series next year.
X-Men ’92 will be returning as an ongoing next year as well, spinning out of the events of Secret Wars from Chris Sims, Chad Bowers and Alti Firmansyah.
And we have the already announced Shang-Chi: Master of Kung Fu omnibus editions and Jeff Lemire, Greg Smallwood, and Jordie Bellaire on Moon Knight.
We will continue to cover the Summit and bring you more news as it comes in.
