‘Avatar: The Way of Water‘ is the Greatest Screensaver Ever Made to be enjoyed via a ScreenX experience on Friday, December 16, 2022..
Editor’s Note: The overall score for ‘Avatar: The Way of Water‘ is reflected upon the balance between visual effects and storytelling. If it was solely based on visuals, this would have been a 5 out of 5; if on story alone a 1 out of 5.
‘Avatar: The Way of Water‘ is by far the most technologically advanced animated feature in the history of cinema. Unfortunately, it is as hollow and bland as a chocolate Easter bunny.
A mix of ‘Star Wars: Return of the Jedi‘, ‘Free Willy‘ and ‘Land of the Lost,’ Avatar is 2 hours of breathtaking animation with one hour of generic rehashed tropes used multiple times over since the early 1960s.
James Cameron went from innovating cinema with visual effects and incredible storytelling to just, “Hey! Look what I can do with a computer!”
The original Avatar was a remake of, ‘Dances with Wolves,’ which was a remake of, ‘A Man Called Horse.’ Cameron returns to the well of piecing together old stories with lazy writing by distracting the audience with incredible visual effects that are to be marveled, especially via a ScreenX experience. The 270 degree visuals throughout the film, no matter how spectacular leave you in awe of the presentation but with zero emotional investment in the characters.
The presence of Cha-ka (he’s called Spider in the movie) adds nothing to the film except for setting up the third installment, ‘Avatar: Look, We Already Paid James Cameron to Make Three More of These.’
For someone who said that testosterone was a toxin that needed to be expelled from the male body, Cameron relies heavily on the male protector standing up to the one dimensional, vengeful general who would destroy the world in order to satisfy his personal vendetta.
The only high points in the story are the tributes to indigenous and Polynesian cultures while showing the balance of strengths between masculinity and femininity, which has been negated for the past five decades within Western societies.
Cameron shows that it is not, “the battle of the sexes,” but “the balance of the sexes,” that makes family and society work.
If you loved the original 2009 Avatar, then you will be enamored by, ‘Avatar: The Way of Water‘. If you felt indifferent about the first one then you’ll be less interested in the sequel.
‘Avatar: The Way of Water’ comes to theaters on Friday, December 16, 2022.

Summary
‘Avatar: The Way of Water‘ is a technological marvel with zero emotional investment. If you are truly excited to see this film, see it in ScreenX to get the full experience, but beyond focusing on the CG quality, don’t expect anything inspirational.
