Listen up, you primitive screwheads! In a revelation that might make the most stringent atheist believe in a benevolent deity, Bruce Campbell and Sam Raimi are reuniting to bring back the Evil Dead, this time in an all-new series for Starz. Fittingly, Ash vs. Evil Dead will premiere on Starz of Halloween night, meaning that plenty of Evil Dead-heads will be freaking out trick-or-treaters by proclaiming, “I’ll swallow your soul, mortal!” As we inch closer to that Halloween premiere, which is directed by Raimi, Starz is unleashing more and more publicity for the show, including this blood-splattered poster featuring Bruce Campbell as Ash alongside Ray Santiago as Pablo Simon Bolivar and Dana DeLorenzo as Kelly Maxwell.
Gorehounds have been clamoring for more Evil Dead ever since the credits rolled on Army of Darkness, and that attempted remake didn’t quite satisfy the same way. Expectations are high for Ash vs. Evil Dead, but Bruce Campbell and Sam Raimi have never been known to shirk from a challenge, especially one with a chainsaw and gallons of fake blood.
Just in case you missed that glorious trailer for Ash vs. Evil Dead:
The official synopsis for Ash vs. Evil Dead:
“Ash vs Evil Dead,” a 10-episode half-hour series, is the long-awaited follow-up to the classic horror film franchise The Evil Dead. The series is executive produced by Sam Raimi, Rob Tapert, and Bruce Campbell, the original filmmakers of the franchise, and Craig DiGregorio who serves as executive producer and showrunner. Campbell will be reprising his role as Ash, the stock boy, aging lothario and chainsaw-handed monster hunter who has spent the last 30 years avoiding responsibility, maturity and the terrors of the Evil Dead. When a Deadite plague threatens to destroy all of mankind, Ash is finally forced to face his demons –personal and literal. Destiny, it turns out, has no plans to release the unlikely hero from its “Evil” grip.
