Cassandra Hack is doing everything she can to defeat the deadites, including using Ash. She wants to get back home to her girlfriend and child. Ash, however, doesn’t want to be just another pawn. After some pretty serious monologue time with his severed hand, it gets real.
Having read none of the previous issues or knowing anything about Hack/Slash this comic was a little bit difficult to follow. However, after enough exposition I was able to piece together a story that made some sort of sense. Knowledge of Army of Darkness helped keep me balanced. Sadly, in the end, Tim Seeley’s writing was not enough to hold my attention all the way until the end of the issue. Daniel Leister does some great work, but I have to admit wearing Cassandra Hack’s clothing during a battle would be more of a hindrance than a help. This is nothing compared to Ash’s poorly though out loin cloth.
If you’ve been reading the series, this issue will feel like an unsatisfactory conclusion. If you haven’t read any of the previous portion of the series, prepare to be confused until you do.
