In the second fight of the Semi-Finals, Russia’s Sergei Kharitonov takes on Brazil’s formal national champion, Anderson Silva. The winner of this bout will face off against Errol Zimmerman in the Heavyweight Tournament finals later tonight.
The Russian makes his ring entrance to Rocky’s Flying High while Silva’s ring musics sounds like he’s ready for Carnivale. This commentary will be loaded with cliche’s like, “It’s going to be a barn burner!”
They touch gloves and from the first blow you can see each man is looking for a knockout. Silva attempts a heel kick into a big overhand right that eventually connects followed by chopping at the legs of Kharitonov leading to a knock down of the big Russian. As Kharitonov stands, he is met with a bit left foot to the face and his nose is broken.
Silva has cut Kharitonov and the Russian is doing everything he can to stay on his feet. He appears to be standing by sheer will alone landing a right hand to the body before round one concludes
Silva has been on the offensive since the start of the second round, even as the Russian has driven him up against the ropes. To quote former WWE Announcer, Good Ol’ JR, Silva, “has some educated feet!”
Kharitonov is doing is best to steal the last few seconds of the second round and Silva looks gassed.
The Russian takes the offensive and is going for all the Glory as he’s now stalking Silva as he lands two uppercuts and knee with the Brazilian on the ropes!
This one is in the record books and the winner by unanimous decision, Anderson Silva!
