Not long ago it was announced that Lionsgate would be moving up the release of American Ultra to August 21st. The stoner action comedy directed by Nima Nourizadeh (Project X) and written by Max Landis (Chronicle) looks to be an interesting twist on the typical spy fare. Based on the trailer there are glimpses of The Manchurian Candidate and, more recently, The Guest. The trailer seems to do well in explaining the concept around American Ultra, which has Jesse Eisenberg as a stoner clerk with a secret spy past that even he was unaware, but I do fear that they may have given away too much information. The film co-stars Kristen Stewart, who was fantastic in The Clouds of Sils Maria, and an energetic Topher Grace.
