Editor Mike Marts left Marvel Comics in April for start-up AfterShock Comics where he’ll use his experience as it’s Editor-In-Chief, joining Eisner Award-winning creator Joe Pruett at the fledgling publisher. Just before SDCC they announced an impressive list of creators they had tapped to work with. Some of the biggest names in comics were on that list, including Garth Ennis (Preacher, Punisher), Jimmy Palmiotti (Power Girl, Jonah Hex), Amanda Conner (Harley Quinn), Paul Jenkins (Inhumans), Justin Jordan (Green Lantern: New Guardians, The Strange Talent of Luther Strode), Phil Hester (Green Arrow, Ant-Man), Frank Barbiere (Five Ghosts, White Suits), Marguerite Bennett (A-Force, Batgirl), Neil Gaiman (Sandman), Amy Chu (Sensation Comics), and Jim Starlin (Captain Marvel, The Infinity Guantlet).
Today AfterShock Comics announced some of the first wave titles these creators will be producing, as well as the release dates of the first issues of these highly anticipated comics. The first four titles will hit store shelves throughout December. They also announced new deals with creators John Layman, Szymon Kudranski, Sam Kieth, Ray Fawkes, David Hine, Alberto Ponticelli, and Ryan Parrott.
- Replica, debuting December 1 from writer Paul Jenkins (Batman: The Dark Knight, Spider-Man, Wolverine: Origin) and artist Andy Clarke (Batman, Judge Dredd);
- InSeXts, debuting December 9 from writer Marguerite Bennett (Batgirl, Sleepy Hollow, A-Force) and artist Ariela Kristantina (Wolverines, Deep State);

“With this first slate of AfterShock comics, we’re not only showcasing our quality of content, but also our commitment to deliver creator-owned comics that appeal to a diverse base of readers and fans,” said Editor-in-Chief Mike Marts. “From writers like Garth Ennis to Brian Azzarello and Adam Glass, we’re producing exciting, creative content with the best story tellers in the business – and this is just the beginning.”
Adam Glass, whose title will debut during the first quarter of 2016, added, “AfterShock’s roster of talent is out of control and they are about to change the game. To just be mentioned in the same breath as some of these writers is an honor and I’m excited to be a part of this.”
We look forward to these titles, and whatever else AfterShock Comics announces for the future.
