Wandering through the Wasteland of the Flipside, Marceline the Vampire Queen tells Jake and Finn of the Tale of Monkey Wizard. Long ago, the Monkey Wizard was the master of kidnapping pricnesses, but after his pet is kidnapped by the Princess Skyblade Harbinger, the Monkey Wizard loses his will to kidnap.
Filled with hugging giant bunnies and sword fights in bazaars, the story is highly random and enjoyable; this is entirely fitting for an Adventure Time story.Paul Tobin and Collen Coover tell an incredibly random story that somehow is both exciting and loveable. I enjoyed a vampire lady hugging a giant bunny as much a anyone. My favorite line happened to do with two Finn and Jake highfiving over the phrase “Simple Solutions” while Marcelline discusses the difficulties of mental illness. Wook Jin Clark illustrates some adorable work in the style of Pendelton Ward’s creation. One cannot help but enjoy the random artwork, even in the post-Apocalyptic wasteland.
The story definitely had a ways to go in helping bringing back the Monkey Wizard’s pet and giving him back his story, but the ride promises to be enjoying.
