Unlike Batman #52, which closed out the New 52 universe giving us something to hope for in Rebirth, Action Comics #52 is a cliffhanger over multiple series forcing the fans to book-hop in order to figure out what is going on. There is nothing really different here that builds on the Batman-Superman #29 issue where they meet the Chinese Super-Man, which was another filler issue leading up to the “death” of the Man of Steel.
We know that in Rebirth there will be multiple Supermen on that primary earth, two aliens, one married, one single, one Chinese made up of Solar Flair energy. The slightest introductions were cute at best but there is no real substance. I know we are waiting for Rebirth, but Superman deserves more than filler issues before the latest big event. It also isn’t fair to have the creative team’s hands tied as they run in place trying to figure out how to cram everything in there to get us where we need to go before Rebirth.

Tomasi and crew’s hands are tied until Rebirth. All we are getting are snippets of whats to come in the future. The Final Days of Superman story arc is like the teaser to the teaser trailer of the pending trailer.
