Simon Pegg’s latest starring vehicle, a romantic comedy titled Absolutely Anything, opens in just a few days, and Fandango has five new clips to get you excited for the film. Absolutely Anything was written by Terry Jones (Monty Python’s Flying Circus, Erik the Viking) and Gavin Scott (Small Soldiers, The Borrowers), and stars Pegg, Kate Beckinsale, comedy legend Robin Williams in his final film role, and the surviving members of Monty Python in the same film for the first time since The Meaning of Life. This is the first directorial turn by Jones in almost two decades since The Wind in the Willows in 1996. Hopefully this one screens in Ireland, as Terry Jones stated on the commentary track of Monty Python’s The Meaning of Life that to his knowledge Ireland had banned only four movies, three of which he had directed; The Meaning of Life, The Life of Brian, and Personal Services.
Here’s the official synopsis:
Neil Clarke (Simon Pegg) is a disillusioned schoolteacher, who suddenly finds and uses the ability to do anything he wants, a challenge bestowed upon him by a group of power-crazed aliens (voiced by John Cleese, Terry Gilliam, Terry Jones, Michael Palin, and Eric Idle) watching him from space. As he struggles to deal with these new found powers and the events that subsequently arise, he calls upon his loyal canine companion Dennis (Robin Williams) to help him along the way.
Absolutely Anything hits theaters on August 14th.
