A Father And Daughter Writing Duo Part 2: Interviews With Russell And Meredith Lissau

GameStop, Inc.

UnknownI brought you the father portion of the Lissau writing duo last week, now it’s time to read what the daughter, uber cool, geek girl Meredith Lissau has to say about writing comics. More girls should follow her example of being true to their geek passions.

Whitney Grace (WG): What was your reaction when you first started writing comic books?

Meredith Lissau (ML): I was really excited.

WG: What do you like about writing comic books?

ML:I like letting my creativity loose and using my imagination.

WG: What was the first Strawberry Shortcake comic you wrote and what was it about?

ML: My first story, “The Blueberry Flu,” was about when Strawberry gets sick and her friends have to run the café for her.

WG: If you had to create your own Strawberry Shortcake character what fruit or fruit inspired dessert would you like base it on?

ML: She would be a girl from the tropics or Hawaii named Mango Smoothie, because A) smoothies are delicious, and B) you can’t have just ONE non-Caucasian character (yes, Cherry Jam might be Asian, but I don’t know for sure).

WG: If you could create your own comic book series, what would you like it to be about?

ML: Some sort of story where there’s a group of 7th grade ninjas, and it would be drawn in an awesome manga-esque style. Ninjas are cool.

BlueFlu_01WG: In Strawberry Shortcake’s world, where do you think all the adults are in Strawberryland or what happened to them?

ML: Theory 1) They just got too big. Theory 2) The people/creatures are some sort of mutants, radiation victims, or scientific experiments made by adults and are watched in an artificial reality to see if they could survive (I love sci-fi).

WG: In your opinion, what would the ultimate comic book crossover be?

ML: I’d love some sort-of battle royale between the DC and Marvel heroes (I’m excluding manga for those who don’t know what manga is and so they won’t get confused with my epic fan-fictions).

WG: What other books, comics, and TV shows do you enjoy watching?

ML: I love dystopian/sci-fi novels, manga (I usually read Viz Media) and anime, especially Pokémon and Sailor Moon (I love ‘90s Pop Culture).

WG: Do you think you want to be a writer once you graduate college?

ML: I don’t plan on it. I’d rather do something in video games, my #1 hobby, or in the“arts” like acting, singing, dancing, but more primarily acting.

WG: Lastly, and this is supposed to make you and me laugh so think of a hilarious answer, do you have anything to declare?

ML: (Thinks of something random) . . . I like pie! It’s sooo yummy! (OMNOMNOMNOM)
