4001 A.D. #3: Faux Father
Written By: Matt Kindt

Release Date: 07/27/2016
New Japan is a hot mess at the moment. 4001 A.D. #3 doesn’t hold back in this issue. When I finished this issue I would say that I was taken back a little. I was surprised just how quickly things escalated in this book.
Don’t be dismayed if you haven’t read the first three books in this story. 4001 A.D. #3 could actually be a stand alone issue, it’s not a bad thing. I highly recommend the other books in the series most definitely. The main character brings you up to speed by the end of the of the comic, and the narrator does good job of spelling out some of the mythos in regards to New Japan.
Matt Kindt, from what I read is one of the most efficient writers I’ve come across. A good way to describe his writing style
is to a gourmet cupcake. A cupcake is small, rich, and dense. You don’t get a whole lot with a cupcake, but the few bites you get are full of flavor. Matt gives us a lot in just a few books. The whole issue is summed up nicely, but has me wanting to read issue four of the series; which is his job. Kindt gives us a lot of great action too, a lot is explained in the action and flow of the panels. Matt’s writing is paired wonderfully however with an excellent artist Clayton Crain.
Well here we are with 4001 A.D. #3 and Clayton Crain gives us the goods once again. Crain’s characters look great. Rai is one of the coolest looking characters in comics right now. His digital style is easy on the eyes, it totally fits the premise of the story as well. Clayton’s action sequences are clean and uncluttered. As much as I really like great dialogue. I’m still that 6 year old comic kid that skims forward to the action. So thanks again to Clayton for the great action.
Clayton Craine and Matt Kindt have gift wrapped another great addition to the ongoing series of 4001 A.D. #3. I recommend this book to all you out there in Fanboynation. You can also check out my other reviews of the series by clicking here.
