Out of the crop of new and returning comic based television shows coming to the small screen this fall, Gotham is one that is getting a huge push from its network. The series focuses on Jim Gordon’s rookie year on the Gotham police force, as well as the early days of Batman’s Rogues Gallery, but is as much an origin story for the city itself. In this 21-minute video the creators and actors behind the show speak in-depth about making the series, and what makes these characters and the setting so iconic.
The video discusses the question that is the heart of the series: Who are the supervillains in the city and how did they become that way? Besides the heroes and villains we know, we get our first real look at Fish Mooney (Jada Pinkett Smith), a new player in the Gotham underworld created for the show. Ben McKenzie talks about the pressure inherent in playing such an iconic character as Jim Gordon, while Donal Logue discusses playing the first ever live action Harvey Bullock. We get some nice unseen footage as well, whetting our appetite for the fall, which just can’t get here fast enough.
Gotham premieres Monday, Sept. 22nd at 8 pm on Fox
