I have been out the duel monsters game for awhile, but I can’t believe the cards that come in this – Yugi’s Collector Box Review
The Yugi’s Collector Box just released, giving players a about a 100 cards to add to their collection. I’m not going to go over every card individually but here’s the break down of what comes in the box:
- 1 Starter Deck: Yugi Reloaded
- 3 Duelist Pack: Yugi booster packs
- 3 Duelist Pack: Kaiba booster packs
- 1 Ultra Rare variant art Dark Magician card
- 1 variant art Oversized Dark Magician card
Yugi’s Collector Boxes can be found in that cool aisle right by the registers at retailers for $19.99, or a bit cheaper if you order online. It’s easily worth the price, considering the prices of booster packs are about $3 a piece, so it’s almost like getting a free Starter Deck along with your Boosters.
Anyway, the highlight of purchasing this deck is hands down the Oversized Dark Magician. I do not know why, but this giant card is just a lot of fun.
Something about putting this oversized card in the deck is hilarious to me. Check out this gif (like gift without a t, as it is meant to be read) I made.
Here’s what the oversized Dark Magician card looks like:
It’s not holographic like its usable standard sized version, but it is an amazing decorative piece and incredibly amusing prop.
On top of what is now one of my favorite props, the cards the came in the Yugi Reloaded Starter Deck is pretty ridiculous. Keep in mind, I have been out of game for the better part of a decade, but this thing comes with Swords of Revealing Light, Magical Cylinder, Mirror Force, Call of the Haunted, and Gemini Elf??? Those cards were extremely difficult to get when I was playing, and now they’re in starter packs? Does that mean these cards are not that good now? I’m sure I can still do some damage with them.
They may not be holographic, but the card effect doesn’t change. These cards can change the tide of a duel. The deck came with a lot of good cards, and is heavily focused around the Dark Magician. You essentially get 3 Dark Magicians in the Yugi’s Collector Box. My problem with the Dark Magician cards though, none of them look like Yugi’s Dark Magician from the show. Anyway, you get 3 Dark Magicians and of course a Dark Magician Girl. Then a bunch of cards to make them easier to summon and more powerful, it’s a very impressive deck. It feels much more like a structure deck than a starter deck.
The Duelist packs are a personal favorite of mine because I always want to make decks like the characters from the show. The Duelist packs make it easy. Essentially every card you pull is an iconic card used by a character from the show. You get some rare cards in every pack, and the chances of a holographic are not any better in the box. All in all though, I got some really good cards and even one of my favorites, Judge Man!
The Yugi’s Collector Box is a great addition to any Yu-Gi-Oh Collector, the cards themselves are not new, but they are classic like a ’68 Mustang, they get better with time. It’s also a great set to get if you’re looking to get back into the game, and want solid cards. Then the oversized Dark Magician just makes me smile. The Yugi’s Collector Box is perfect for any fan of the game, and who doesn’t already have every card of Yugi’s deck. My Yugi’s Collector Box review gets a 5/5 Stars.
