Break the Cycle – Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG Circuit Break Booster Packs [Review]

GameStop, Inc.

A new way to duel has arrived in the Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG Circuit Break Booster Packs [Review]

Circuit Break Booster PacksI mentioned the Circuit Break Booster Packs before, but now I get to tell you about the cards in them. First and foremost, the Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG Circuit Break Booster Packs are very much as the name implies. It breaks the circuit, in which it breaks the cycle of most of the theme decks that are currently out. It introduces new themes like the F.A. and Krawler cards and has a heavy focus on Link Summoning and Extra Summoning in general. But it also adds some cards to Doriado, Amazon, and Spirit themes. I’m sure there are more but I only have 3 packs, and I feel that’s good enough to get an idea of what’s in there.

Personally, I’m not very impressed by the cards in the Circuit Break Booster Packs. There are some awesome cards, don’t get me wrong, but other than Link Summoning cards, I’m not that interested in themes not used by regulars in the first 3 Yu-Gi-Oh! series. So, my review will be slightly less than more ardent players of the game. I was most excited about Amazoness Spy because after losing to that Amazon deck in Duel Links over and over again, I really want an Amazon deck.

However, the new F.A. and Krawler cards do seem really cool, as well as anything Cyberse. I am pretty interested in the F.A. cards. I really like the look of them, and I feel it kind of turned 5D’s into an in-game theme. If F.A. was around in 5D’s or they started this theme a while back, my bad. I just got back into the game with the introduction of the Link Summoning system, and I stopped playing when Elemental Heroes came out prior. I missed a lot. But other than the F.A. cards, I don’t have much interest in any of the other cards. Cyberse cards are cool, and the Krawler looks like futuristic Egyptian monsters, but my ultimate goal is to recreate Joey’s Gambler deck with Gearfried and the Landstar Monsters.

*Circuit Break Booster Packs can be bought individually for $3.99, or in a Circuit Break Special Edition Box that comes with 2 of 4 Super Rare Variant cards as well as 3 packs for $9.99. Go with the Special Edition Box

The Circuit Break Booster Packs are the next step of the Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG, and are looking to not only change the game but also incorporate your old themes into the modern rules. As a person who barely started getting the hang of Pendulum Summoning, and is stubbornly focused on recreating decks from the original series, it doesn’t excite me as much as players more focused on being competitive probably are. While I can acknowledge and admire the new depth and directions the game is going, I personally cannot get very hyped up about it. It wasn’t like Code of the Duelist where I can see the cards being implemented right away, it seems like you need a lot more cards and need an almost entirely new deck. My Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG Circuit Break Booster Packs review is based on the average of my excitement and what I feel of the value it brings to the game, which is a 3/5.

Add cards from the Circuit Break Booster Packs to your collection!
