Out of the many top duelists to participate, Christopher Leblanc & Charley Futch III Triumph at Yu-Gi-Oh! Championship Series in Tortonto
El Segundo, Calif. (September 5, 2017) – Some of the greatest Yu-Gi-Oh! TRADING CARD GAME (TCG) Duelists traveled from all over Canada, America, and beyond to kick off the new competitive season in Toronto, as the Yu-Gi-Oh! Championship Series (YCS) returned to the Metro Toronto Convention Center for the annual showdown in the Six! With the 2016/2017 YCS season over, hundreds of Duelists competed for the first taste of title gold in the Link Summoning Era. The result was a showcase of Deck-building and Dueling skill that will have a global impact on the game.
Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc. (KONAMI) brought an action-packed weekend of high-competition Dueling to Toronto, and after two days of intense action two Duelists remained: YCS Main Event Champion Christopher Leblanc and Dragon Duel Champion Charley Futch III.
From Waltham, Massachusetts, LeBlanc competed with a True Draco Zoodiac Deck and played it flawlessly all weekend. But Green Bay, Wisconsin’s Mason Mattila played his True Draco Zoodiac Deck with incredible precision as well, making for a tremendous Finals Match Sunday afternoon. In the end it was LeBlanc who reigned victorious in a knock-down drag-out 2-0 confrontation that had the Dueling masses on their feet at the MTCC. Mattila gave it his all, but it just seemed like it was LeBlanc’s weekend, and in the end it was LeBlanc that took home the YCS title.
In claiming the Championship, LeBlanc earned his invitation to compete in the 2018 North America World Championship Qualifier with paid travel and accommodations, where LeBlanc will have a chance to win his way to the 2018 World Championship. He also took home an exclusive Yu-Gi-Oh! Championship Series Top Cut Game Mat, a PlayStation® 4 Pro 1TB system, and the most coveted prize of all: the first Ultra Rare copy of the new YCS Prize CardNumber 89: Diablosis the Mind Hacker, which debuted at YCS Toronto.

Competition in the Dragon Duel division was huge as well; a showcase arena for young Duelists born in 2005 or later. Futch III from Indianapolis, Indiana captured victory on Saturday, while Milton, Ontario’s Matthew Kozlov won the Dragon Duel on Sunday. At the end of the weekend they went head-to-head in one last Finals Match that pitted Futch III’s True Draco Zoodiac Deck against Kozlov’s True Draco Dino Deck, and when everything was said and done it was Futch III who triumphed and won the title of YCS Toronto Dragon Duel Champion. Both Duelists qualified to compete in the 2018 North American Dragon Duel World Championship Qualifier next summer.
