Love “clicker” games? Love “tower defense” games? Then this is the game for you!
Created by Pine Entertainment, Frontier Defense is a mobile game that combines the “clicker” and “tower defense” games into one insanely, addictive game. The story is simple, you have a castle and you have to defend it from hordes of enemies. So if you ever wondered how you would fare in Helm’s Deep, here’s your chance.
Players can choose up to three characters to control in Frontier Defense and these will be your clickers. The faster you click, the faster they attack. Characters will either be a long-range or a short-range character and each will have their own unique special. The archer’s special is my personal favorite because it pushes back all the enemies, giving you time to think and recover. Along with a special move, all characters come with an “Auto” button that lets the characters go berserk for a short amount of time, thus allowing you to control the other two. All the characters can be upgraded, but choose carefully on who you want to upgrade. It is extremely easy to attain gems in Frontier Defense (defeating battles, daily spins, watching short ads, and achievements), thus making it easy buy better characters and not spend real money.
While you are clicking your way to victory, your castle will provide back up with towers commonly found in most “tower defense” games. Frontier Defense has your standard archer tower, a cannonball, mage and the list goes on. The “Twin Tower” is one I will highly recommend because of its shooting rate and the “Ice Tower” is one of few towers I’ve seen that really do slow down the enemy. One of the issues I’ve had with “tower defense” games was the idea of just watching after I set up my towers. Frontier Defense eliminates this problem by having the player engage in the battle with their characters, while having to manage both the towers and the characters.
Overall, Frontier Defense is addicting and the brilliance to the game is that it gives you no time to think, “Should I play another round?” Immediately after players defeat wave or a battle, it’s on to the next one. There is no victory or results board. The only time players pause during the game is to either upgrade, shop, or do the daily spin. Frontier Defense is one of those games that is so simple and doesn’t require a lot of thought, but you just can’t put down. Did I also mention it’s free?
Pros:
- Easy and simple to learn
- Free and no real money necessary for full experience
- Engages players and gets rid of the watching part of “tower defense” games
Cons
- Occasional lag if all specials and autos are activated simultaneously
- Will sometimes open bottom tabs while clicking due to the two being in close proximity
Frontier Defense is available for both iOS and Android, so defend your castle by going the App Store or Play Store and download Frontier Defense now.
