WWE Slam Crate Event – Stone Cold Stuns Meltdown Comics

GameStop, Inc.

wwe slam crate

WWE Slam Stars is an upcoming series of figures that will be exclusive to the WWE Slam Crates beginning April 2017 box themed Masters of the Mix. To celebrate, Lootcrate collaborated with Meltdown Comics to set up WWEMELT, an event to celebrate all things WWE.

Meltdown Comics and Collectibles is an independent comic book shop located in the heart of Los Angeles. As one of the largest comic book shops in the Los Angeles area, Meltdown boasts a proud collection of comic books, toys, and collectibles. The shop is a geek heaven and hosts events every night from open mics to art shows. Find out more about them here.

Established in 2012, Lootcrate is a subscription box service that provides monthly boxes of geek and gaming related merchandise.  At first, Lootcrate only sold one box that contained various geeky items. In the last five years, Lootcrate has created multiple boxes that focus on specific geeky categories like Marvel, Halo, Firefly, pets, and even clothes. WWE Slam Crate is a recent box that started October 2016 and is a bi-monthly box, as opposed to their usual monthly services.

Starting April 2017, the WWE Slam Crate boxes will feature an exclusive figure line, WWE Slam Stars. The figure line will highlight some of the most famous WWE wrestlers ever to speak on the mic in the square ring. Slam Crate has chosen the Texas rattlesnake himself, “Stone Cold” Steve Austin, as the first wrestler to be featured for toy line. Stone Cold is the beer-drinking antihero of the WWE that did whatever he wanted and constantly defied the boss, Vince McMahon. He has sprayed the entire ring with a beer truck, was dragged out of the arena by 20+ cops, and even filled Vince’s car full of cement. On the mic, Stone Cold has arguably cursed more times in one episode than other wrestlers have their entire career and is most known for his famous quote, “And that’s the bottom line, cause Stone Cold said so!”

To celebrate the exclusive figure line, Lootcrate and Meltdown comics set up an art room featuring the new figure along with various WWE artworks. The artwork included chairs that featured images of recent WWE events, a Money in the Bank setup (ladder and briefcase included), and my favorite, a large canvas that showcased the older generation of wrestlers. Wrestlers of every generation can be seen in the artwork throughout the floor including Vader, The Rock, Chyna, and Ultimate Area. Some artwork took a more modern approach like one that was an image of Donald Trump pinning down Free Press.

Lootcrate and Meltdown comics put on a great event that honored both the old and new generation of WWE. The artwork was a nice touch to reminisce on some of the greatest events in WWE history. Last, but not least, the Masters of the Mic figure series looks to be a great addition to the mystery box. He even comes with a beercan! How can you not want to add him to your personal collection?

You can order the April 2017 Masters of the Mic crate with the exclusive WWE Slam Star figure here. The crate will be on sale until April 15 and will ship out afterward.

Sidenote: Am I the only one that thinks he looks like Heisenberg from Breaking Bad on the box?
