Women of Wrestling (WOW) will be hosting two nights of TV tapings at the famed downtown Los Angeles Belasco Theater on Wednesday, October 10th at 7:30 p.m. and Thursday, October 11th also at 7:30 p.m. with the episodes being broadcast on AXS TV coming in 2019.
WOW is the brainchild of David McLane, the founder of the Gorgeous Ladies Of Wrestling (GLOW), which inspired the Emmy nominated Netflix series of the same name. Now, McLane, along with owner of the Los Angeles Lakers, Jeanie Buss, Survivor creator, Mark Burnett and AXS TV Founder, Mark Cuban to bring you fun filled excitement for the whole family in WOW. A modern professional wrestling show that highlights female athleticism, power, intelligence, grace and beauty.
“It is very gratifying to see women’s wrestling grow in interest over the past few years. Being a fan of pro wrestling and having a vision to see women share the spotlight equally and then exceed the men in popularity is something I always believed would happen. The fans made it happen and the fans will all benefit from the way to best present the product,” said McLane.
This is the first time in the history of professional wrestling that outside industry leaders have joined forces to back women’s wrestling. For those of us who love wrasslin‘ we are familiar with the names of Vince McMahon, Jerry and Jeff Jarrett, Ted Turner, Jim Crockett and Jerry “The King” Lawler. However, now with Burnett, Buss and Cuban tag teaming with McLane, a life long wrestling fan and promoter, a new wave and fresh themes can be implemented, similar to what Lucha Underground has done for the business.
WOW picks up where GLOW left off 30 years ago and although it lessens the campiness of its predecessor, the new incarnation continues to take the wrestling seriously.
