Titanfall 2 Official Single Player Gameplay Trailer
The new Titanfall 2 Official Single Player Gameplay Trailer gives us a closer look into how Jack Cooper becomes the pilot of BT-7274, and how that bond shapes the storyline of the game.
“I was just in the right place, at the wrong time..”
The story follows Jack Cooper, a 3rd Class militia rifleman who dreams of becoming a Pilot. In the beginning, he is secretly being trained by Captain Tai Lastimosa, who is a Master-level Pilot of his Titan, BT-7274. He sees great potential in Jack, but secretly trains him to avoid all of the paperwork and strict policies in place while they are at war with the IMC. During a mission however, Jack and BT accidentally land behind enemy lines. With Captain Lastimosa on the verge of death, he transfers control of his Titan to Jack. Jack and BT have no choice but to link up and finish their mission without the captain.
The Bond Between Pilot and Titan
A lot of the story’s focus for Titanfall 2 is the shared bond between Jack Cooper and BT-7274. With their mission at stake and their leader killed in action, they are thrust into a partnership that normally takes years to establish. Respawn Entertainment has set the bar pretty high for Titanfall 2, and they realize that it’s imperative for a great story to have great relationships. Many of the story development team on Titanfall 2 had worked on the campaigns for Call of Duty Modern Warfare and Modern Warfare 2. One reason that those games turned out to arguably be the best in the series is the focus on the relationship between characters like Captain John Price and John “Soap” Mactavish.
Great stories are usually character driven, so having a grunt become a Pilot of a giant war machine with a personality should make for one hell of a story. For more trailers and information about Titanfall 2, check out some of our other articles.
