It may seem as if Jackie Chan has been in hiding for a lot of American moviegoers, but the action legend has been working steadily in China, continually churning out action flicks of varying quality over the past decade. Now American audiences better get ready for Jackie Chan’s ass-kicking return with The Foreigner, the upcoming revenge thriller from Casino Royale director Martin Campbell.
Kind of like he did in Police Story: Lockdown, Chan is starring as a Liam Neeson-like older family man driven to violent vengeance when the forces of evil harm his family. In The Foreigner, it looks like Chan is gearing up to battle a terrorist organization similar to the IRA and led by a bearded Pierce Brosnan. Even in his 60s, it doesn’t look like Chan has lost a step and this final trailer for the The Foreigner looks like Martin Campbell is clearly capturing the frantic movements of the aging ass-kicker.
The action icon and former James Bond will face off when The Foreigner lands in theaters on October 13, 2017.
The official synopsis for The Foreigner:
The Foreigner, starring Jackie Chan and Pierce Brosnan, is a timely action thriller from the director of Casino Royale. The film tells the story of humble London businessman Quan (Chan), whose long-buried past erupts in a revenge-fueled vendetta when the only person left for him to love — his teenage daughter — is taken from him in a senseless act of politically-motivated terrorism. In his relentless search for the identity of the terrorists, Quan is forced into a cat-and-mouse conflict with a British government official (Brosnan), whose own past may hold clues to the identities of the elusive killers.
