It only fitting that the first teaser for Thor: Ragnarok would feature “The Immigrant Song” by Led Zeppelin, a band famously obsessed with Norse mythology. The third Thor solo film will be helmed by Hunt for the Wilderpeople director Taika Waititi, and looks to be one of the craziest installments ever in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It’s not an overstatement to say that this trailer looks the greatest cover for a ’70s prog rock band that was never made.
In this chapter, Thor (Chris Hemsworth), the God of Thunder, must battle the all-powerful Hela (Cate Blanchett), who has all but laid waste to his home of Asgard. On his journey, Thor encounters Valkerie (Tessa Thompson) and the Grandmaster (Jeff Goldblum) and they make Thor battle for their own entertainment. Who could they have Thor battle, you might ask. None other than the Incredible Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) in what is bringing so many fanboy dreams to life by adapting parts of Planet Hulk to the big screen.
We’re always looking forward to the latest Marvel entry here at FanboyNation, but this trailer combined with the fact that it’s directed by the great Taika Waititi has us all a bit too excited for Thor: Ragnarok to blast into the theaters on November 3rd, 2017.
