Title: Superman: Rebirth #1

Artist(s): Doug Mahnke

Publisher: DC Comics
While Wally West became the bridge between Post Crisis, Flashpoint and the New 52, the Supermen of both realities have crossed paths. Just as the Post Crisis Superman was resurrected from the dead, red jockey shorts and all, so too is his hope for his counterpart of the New 52.
What is missing this go around though, is the regeneration matrix does not exist in this world. It is up to Post Crisis Superman and Lana Lang to find a way to bring the Man of Steel back to the world of the living, but what you won’t believe!…okay, because really, we still don’t know exactly how they will bring back New 52 Superman.
Tomasi and Gleason have really written a 22-page prologue for the upcoming series that still carries the hope of the world on Superman’s shoulders. The story beautifully retells the Death of Superman at the hands of Doomsday in 1992 and what the intent of the New 52 Superman will be upon his hopeful return. Only this time, we don’t have to worry about a world without Superman because we have the Post Crisis Superman to help out as much as he can. Now what will happen with Jonathan and Lois as they adapt to the being in the public eye in this world.
Mahnke’s art is perfect for this story as he recreated the Death of Superman and the hope for the Rebirth.
