Visitors of Hall H at San Diego Comic-Con were treated to a surprise at the Star Wars panel. Not only were they greeted by director J.J. Abrams, but he was joined on stage by what seemed like the entire cast, including Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Domhnall Gleeson, Gwendoline Christie, Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher and Harrison Ford, as well as producer and Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy and writer Lawrence Kasdan. I’m surprised the stage didn’t collapse.
But the Star Wars: The Force Awakens panel has just ended. So as all the Hall H attendees are shuffled off to an exclusive concert, leaving Kevin Smith an empty Hall H, the official Star Wars Twitter account has just unveiled the 3-minute short featuring behind-the-scenes footage. There’s an emphasis on the practical effects being utilized in the film, an open rejection of the CGI sets that dominated the prequels.
There’s nothing in the footage dissuade any of the optimism — Simon Pegg! — that has surrounded J.J. Abrams‘ resurrection of the Star Wars saga. At present, December 16th, 2015, when Star Wars: The Force Awakens opens, can’t get here soon enough. Stormtroopers with flame-throwers! ‘Nuff said.
We’re going in! A video just revealed at @Comic_Con takes you behind the scenes of #StarWars: TheForceAwakens. #SDCChttps://t.co/ASq8xrIKrF
