Seeking the ‘Truth Out There’

Famed X-Files star, Dean Haglund, hosts the Phil Leirness documentary, “The Truth is Out There.” A film dedicated to uncovering the experiences of those who have had close encounters with extraterrestrial beings, conspiracy theorists about 9/11, ghost hunters and a whole host of others.

Dean Haglund poses for the cameras on a tour of a Berlin bunker.

Leirness and Haglund create a true masterpiece in allowing these people a forum to share their stories without judgment or condemnation. Haglund proves that he is a class act by never once making fun of the willing participants who opened themselves up to be interviewed. He approaches their stories with an open mind and a compassionate heart without an agenda to sway the viewers opinions.

What was most impressive is the extent that Leirness and Haglund went to share these experiences and interviewed scientists, medical doctors and psychologists adding credence to the film, instead of treating the people in this documentary as wackos who wear tinfoil helmets to block out the radiowaves.

Lighthearted and humorous, Haglund does not take himself seriously in trying to, “expose the truth,” but rather lets individual truths be revealed through the story tellers.

Through doing research for the role of Richard Langly on The X-Files, Haglund was introduced to conspiracy theorists and doomsdayers, opening him up to being a skeptic, instead of dismissing random events as just the mind playing tricks.

From trips to the Queen Mary in Long Beach and the former NIKE Missle Control Site in Los Angeles, the crew met and interviewed actor/writer/musicians and Vietnam veteran, Tucker Smallwood, who received the Purple Heart while overseas.

Tucker discussed his trip to Area 51 in 1991, engaging the Nevada State Troopers, the Air Force Police and his encounters just beyond the rim with extraterrestrial beings. He discusses not having physical, empirical evidence, but that these same events he has witnessed have been documented for years. He says whatever it was was moving around like it was going for a test drive. Now, it would be virtually impossible to get several miles anywhere near where he was on that eventful trip.

TRUTH director Phil Leirness co-hosts a live installment of Chillpak Hollywood Hour with Dean Haglund at X-Con in Berlin.

Tucker shares his UFO story in his novel, “Return to Eden,” discussing a winged being flying near his windshield that he originally assumed to be an owl. Where aliens or military facility for testing new aircrafts, wasn’t the issue, but that something is in Area 51 and the government is doing what they can to hide it from the common citizens.

The stories are virtually identical when discussing Unidentified Flying Objects. They fly in an “S” shaped motion through the sky, they glow bright, take off like a rocket and disappear. One must remember, a UFO is not synonymous with Aliens, but rather what the title states, Unidentified…meaning it could possibly be ours.

Even for the greatest skeptic, Haglund visited the Aware and Awake Conference in Burbank, CA, and listened intently Cynthia Crawford, a sculptor who claims she was healed of a brain tumor while aboard an alien mothership. She also claimed that Jesus is a space alien who prefers to be called Sananda, a being that does not care for religious fervor but only about unconditional love. Crawford says that her sculptors are there to awaken people to their own truths.

Dean Haglund discusses what has come forward for him on his journey for the TRUTH with renowned psychotherapist Dr. Nicki J. Monti.

From people who claim alien implants, government conspiracies, secret societies, symbolism and the metaphysical. Haglund only asks to keep an open mind before passing judgment on those who have different experiences from the norm. Leirness points out that narratives of what is going on in the life of people, might not happened in the exact way they relay their stories, but instead of nitpicking the details, they should be open to the fact that something did happen in these peoples lives.

Humorous, inquisitive, entertaining and open minded, “The Truth is Out There,” is a documentary worth watching. You don’t have to believe in order to be entertained and understand the philosophical aspects of what is going on out there beyond the limitations we have set for ourselves.

The gist is this… QUESTION EVERYTHING!!!

“The Truth is Out There,” will be released on Blu-Ray, Tuesday September 25, 2012.
