This summer something exciting will be happening… Romy And Michele’s High School Reunion will take to the stage 20 years after they first appeared on screen and it promises to be just as glorious. This musical version of Romy and Michele’s High School Reunion will be making its debut at Seattle’s 5th Avenue Theater this summer (June 8- July 2). For anyone unfamiliar with the story it revolves around two rather socially awkward best friends who try to impress former classmates at their ten-year high school reunion and subsequently put their friendship to the ultimate test. I remember being sixteen years old and seeing it in the theater with my friends… multiple times. I was immediately in love with the humor and reality of the movie and it has since been one of my top three favorite movies. It’s truly a requirement of any girls’ night in.
This musical version has a most impressive team involved. Robin Schiff, who was the film’s screenwriter, penned the book. Brandon Jay and Gwendolyn Sanford, from Orange is the New Black, bring a pop/rock inspired score to the production. Romy will be brought to life by Cortney Wolfson who starred in the On-Broadway production of Kinky Boots. The ever-quirky Michele will be portrayed by Stephanie Renee Wall who can be found starring as Elsa in Frozen: Live at the Hyperion at Disney’s California Adventure.
The show begins June 8th , 2017 for previews with an official opening June 15th, 2017. It will run through July 2, 2017 at the 5th Avenue Theater in Seattle. Tickets can be purchased at www.5thavenue.org or by calling the box office directly at 206-625-1900. Ticket prices start at a mere $29.
