DC’s Rebirth initiative has seen the return of many of our favorite former teen superheroes. Now, as we get closer to the Doomsday Clock striking midnight, Tim Drake, the Red Robin returns only to discover that his captor was not only his limitations that he set for himself, but a threat has arrived and he is waking up an old nightmare.
As phenomenal as Tynion’s writing has been, the new big reveal villain was a bit of a let-down. It works great in concept and fun to see how it will fit into everything come November, but it would have been nice to have someone new and not closely tied into the mythos of one of the big three foundational characters.
There is no denying that Barrows, Ferreira and Lucas are a great artistic team, making you pause on every page to examine each detail of the images, but again, that one character used took me out of the story.
One more twist exists that has been used before, but it works for where DC is going in their storytelling and I’m at least happy with the continued quality that these creators continue to put out.

The Verdict
It’s great to see Tim Drake back, but one little twist pulled me out of the story with an, “Oh come on,” moment. It should have been more shocking, but at least it works to where the story is head.
