Accessory maker Performance Designed Products (PDP) sent me an Afterglow Prismatic Wired Controller for Xbox One and the highest praise that I can give this controller is that it’s essentially a stock Xbox one controller in form and performance. With that being said the Afterglow Prismatic Wired Controller has its own feature set that has actually come in very handy during some intense multiplayer sessions, but it feels like an Xbox controller and that is a very good thing indeed.
Afterglow Prismatic Wired Controller feature set is essentially the same as a stock controller. Like second generation stock Xbox controllers the Afterglow has a 3.5mm jack so you can use any headset of your liking. The buttons felt really responsive and after hours of gaming I never felt that any of that responsiveness was lost over time.
The Afterglow Prismatic Wired Controller is clear and that is because as the name says it glows. There are multiple colors for you to choose from. Since it’s an Xbox controller I set it to green and started gaming. Here is where the controller really shines. On the back where your fingers would rest are two programmable wheels. I play a ton of call of duty and I programmed those wheels to be my melee button. It takes some getting used to, but once you do it’s hard to go back to gaming without the wheels.
Another cool feature is that it has built in audio controls. With one press of a button you can control game or chat audio which is very nice feature that I think all controllers should have. It doesn’t obstruct gaming either its placed in the bottom left corner of the right analog and works very well.
There is only one con to the Afterglow Prismatic Wired Controller. The clear plastic had less grip than a stock controller, but it wasn’t a very noticeable difference. My hands never slipped off of the controller, but it is something that some people may not like. Even with this minor con I have found myself using the Afterglow Prismatic Wired Controller more than the stock one because I like having the wheels on the back for my competitive gaming.
