STAMFORD, Conn. – January 28, 2015 – NBC Sports Group today announced the debut of a new short film featuring actor Nick Offerman for its multi-platform marketing campaign to promote the launch of NASCAR on NBC and NBCSN. Live coverage begins 4th of July weekend with NASCAR Sprint Cup Series and NASCAR XFINITY Series racing from Daytona International Speedway.
Offerman, best known for his role on NBC’s Parks and Recreation, celebrates NASCAR’s return to NBC this summer in the full-length, two-minute music video. One 30-second and one 60-second TV spot from the video will air this Sunday during NBC’s broadcast of Super Bowl XLIX, beginning with pre-game coverage at Noon ET.
“We were looking to create something entertaining and attention-grabbing that speaks to long-time NASCAR fans and a broader audience alike,” said Bill Bergofin, Senior Vice President, Marketing, NBC Sports Group. “The campaign is a light-hearted but earnest look at the sport and culture of NASCAR, and shows us that we all need a little more NASCAR in our lives.”
The 30-second TV spot will run across the broadcast, digital and social media platforms of NBC Sports Group including during NBCSN’s telecast of the NASCAR Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony this Friday, Jan. 30, at 8 p.m. ET, and the NASCAR Gridiron Challenge presented by Toyota Friday at 10 p.m. ET. In addition, the long-form video is available on NBC Sports’ YouTube channel.
The creative was developed by NBC Sports Agency in consultation with acclaimed production company Hungry Man.
