ATLUS, the studio behind the Shin Megami Tensei and Persona series, have just announced the formation of a brand new internal studio led by Persona 5 director Katsura Hashino named Studio Zero. While not much information was given about the debut game from Studio Zero, it is said to be a complete departure from both the Shin Megami Tensei and Persona series and will be a return to JRPG roots. Hashino will be the game’s director and will be joined by ATLUS art team’s Shigenori Soejima and ATLUS sound team’s Shoji Meguro, both known for their work on the Persona series, as character designer and composer respectively.
“We take seriously this goal of creating a game with the care and detail expected by the people who love ATLUS games and home console games,” said Hashino. “We haven’t determined yet what platform our new game will be, and I imagine this project will take a long time until completion. But we’ll be working hard at this challenge to truly deliver something new and incredible for all our fans.”
While being part of Studio Zero, both Soejima and Meguro will continue to work on the Persona series and P-Studio will still continue on giving their all on new entries for the series. Studio Zero will become the new source of innovation for all future ATLUS development.
