“What happens when two drug-fueled lowlifes find themselves wrapped up in a homicide and hunted by psychos? Modern Animals happens.”
Modern Animals is a neat looking graphic novel by writer David M. Brown and artist D.N.S that really caught my eye; it’s a total throwback to the bygone era of EC Comics, perfectly nailing that style of pulpy horror sequential art in the best ways I’ve seen since Black Hole by Charles Burns. From what I’ve seen thus far, D.N.S really has the visuals down pat, and the story comes off like a cross between Chuck Palahniuk’s novel Snuff and anything by the Hunter S. Thompson. This is the type of comic I’d take one look at from afar, and walk out the store with.
I’m looking forward to properly reviewing the book, but in the meantime I thought I’d do David, D.N.S, and Letterer Mira Mortal a solid and raise a little awareness for their Kickstarter; it’s already reached it’s goal, which is an incredible feat unto itself, but independent creators can always use any of the extra support they can get. Give it a look, and back the project if you can.
Thank you, Anthony!
