Friday June 2, 2017 – Legacy Fighting Alliance (LFA) 13 took place from the Marriott Convention Center in Burbank, CA, where with a heavy heart we bid farewell to “The Voice” Michael Schiavello who called his final fight for AXS TV Fights before returning home to Australia to be closer to his family. Shiavello will be missed but didn’t phone in tonight’s commentating which aired live on AXS TV.
Tonight’s LFA Fight Results are as follow:
Bantamweight (135 lbs) Jonny Quiroz (2-1) vs. Kyler Phillips (3-0)
Round One – Phillips drives Quiroz back against the cage but as the boxer comes out, Phillips attempts a spinning back kick that slips him up only to scramble back to his feet where and presses Quiroz against the cage again. Center ring the pace has slowed to a crawl as neither fighter is fully committing to their attack. Quiroz rocked Phillips with a straight right hand but didn’t follow through allowing Phillips to regroup. Phillips knocks Quiroz to the ground who threw a few up kicks before the bell rang.
Round Two – Phillips takes command by leading with his jab only to eat a knee from Quiroz who is fighting off the cage. Phillips throws a low single kick that’s caught and eats a right hand. Quiroz throws a spinning back fist and in the process gets taken down with a double leg. Phillips takes his back but Quiroz is hand fighting while he tries to post off the cage. Phillips is dropping punches trying to open up Quiroz for a choke. Phillips can’t finish him and in the last few seconds of the round, stands up before the bell tolls.
Round Three – Phillips takes Quiroz’s back again and is still looking for a choke. The two continue to scramble and Phillips takes the back again. Phillips is punching himself out as Quiroz tells the referee he’s okay. Phillips is looking for a knee bar but can’t lock it in as this fight comes to an end.

Light Heavyweight (205 lbs) Antonio Arroyo (4-1) vs. Herdem Alcabek (2-0)
Round One – Arroyo is picking his spots, but is driven to the cage by Alcabek and taken down and fighting from closed guard. Arroyo is trying to open Alcabek with some heavy elbows and scrambling out of the ground-and-pound into side mount. Alcabek tries to take the back but Arroyo gets up on his feet before getting taken down with a double leg. Alcabek continues to throw punches from half-guard, gets his hooks in and takes the back for the rear naked choke.
Your winner at 3:51 of the very first round by submission, Herdem Alcabek!
Catchweight (130 lbs) Maikel Perez (3-1) vs. Trent Meaux (6-2)
Round One – Meaux leads with his jab but Perez lands an overhand right that thunders through the crowd. Perez sets up a double and transitions to a single pressuring Meaux against the cage and hieing him up in a standing arm-triangle. Perez sweets him to the ground and is hand fight from half-guard almost taking the back but Meaux stands and faces him center cage before eating another overhand right. Perez ankle picks Meaux, driving him to the cage and feeds Meaux a right elbow before fighting center cage. Perez hits a low single, transitions to take Meaux’s back and is working a neck crank before getting the rear naked choke.
Your winner in the very first round at 4:00 by submission, Maikel Perez!
Light Heavyweight (205 lbs) Khadzhi Bestaev (4-1) vs. Alonzo Menifield (2-0)
Round One – They touch gloves and Menifield starts swinging for the fences before connecting with a right hand landing in Bestaev’s guard. the two scramble with Menifield controlling top position for the majority of the round before accidentally poking Bestaev in the eye, forcing the doctor to come in and check on him.
This one ends in the first round via verbal submission due to strike at 4:01 declaring Alonzo Menifield.
Featured Light Heavyweight (205 lbs) Jordan Powell (8-6) vs. Dominick Reyes (5-0)
Round One – Powell leads up with a back spinning kick that doesn’t connect as the two go for some dirty boxing. Reyes lands a left hand that causes Powell to showboat with his head movement before eating a big kick to the fact to end this fight quickly.

Co-Main Event Welterweight (170 lbs) Sam Liera (12-9) vs. Karen Darabedyan (12-6)
Round One – The two fighters are feeling each other out by exchanging leg kicks and going one-for-one on punch exchanges. Darabedyan scores a double leg against the cage as both are trying to finish the other off with ankle locks. Darabedyan scrambles to take the back as Liera spins allowing for the full mount that allows Darabedyan to switch to an armbar attempt before they both shoot up to their feet as this becomes the second fight of the night to make it out of the first round.
Round Two – Darabedyan quickly takes Liera down as they fight from half-guard against the cage. Darabedyan takes Liera’s back and gets the rear naked choke.

Main Event Welterweight (170 lbs) Kevin Holland (9-2) vs. Curtis Millender (11-3)
Round One – The fighters touch gloves as Holland leads with a low kick that Millender tires to answer with a head heack of his own. Holland takes cage control after single leg. Center cage the two exchange low kicks. Holland uses his jab before throwing a head kick and then drives Millender against the cage as he tries to finish the take down, Millender slips and Holland lands in his guard. This round has spent more time against the cage with Holland putting on the pressure as Millender throws a few knees off the cage to force them back to the center.
Holland is throwing head kicks, Superman punches and everything else he can think of but Millender’s head movement is too good, allowing him to drop Holland with a straight right hand before getting pressed against the cage again. Holland lands a night combination but Millender answers back with his own as this round comes to an end mid-cage.
Round Two – Millender drops Holland early on but he pops back up to his feet. Holland is trying to create distance by throwing kicks to Millender’s thigh before dropping him with a right hand and taking his back. Millender however stands straight up on instinct allone and fights to face Holland with his back against the cage.
The two dirty box in the center of the cage and this round is just too tough to call. Millender throws several elbows but over steps his centerline as Holland ties him up from behind. Millender turns to face Holland, who is now against the cage and the two continue to dirty box.
Round Three – Final round and the crowd falls to a whisper as everyone eagerly awaits a finish or a decision. Everyone knows not to leave it in the hands of the judges, but sometimes those are the cards that are dealt. Each strike is answered with a counter strike as both Holland and Millender are both waiting for that opening to finish this fight.
Holland drives Millender against the cage before getting shoved back to center cage. Holland lands a big right hand that staggers Millender forcing him back against the cage for the umpteenth time.
Millender gets Holland to the ground and fights from open guard as his almost tired himselve out from dropping hammer fists. Holland throws his legs up attempting an arm bar but this one comes to a decision.
