Okay, let’s start with this, I have never, in all the years I have been on this earth ever expected to read Green Lantern tell Batman about Lex Luthor being on Apokolips, “Hell, we can stick his toothbrush down our pants, too, if we want,” but yep, I just read it correctly and laughed hysterically.
Justice League issue 48 and the eighth story related to the Darkseid War is primarily Wonder Woman dealing with the Crime Syndicate. Superwoman is still very much pregnant, Power Ring has descended into the greater depths of fear, Grid is still running Cyborg, and Superman has become immune to kryptonite. The two teams have decided to join forces to take down Morbius who’s caused Darkseid’s daughter Grail to go missing.
This has quickly become one of my favorite books in the DC Universe as team-ups have always intrigued me. The crossover with the Crime Syndicate puts in a bit of moral ambiguity within the Justice League, because the enemy-of-my-enemy-is-my-ally and just how much will the Justice League sit back and let this form of evil run wild?
Jason Fabok’s art is stellar on this Justice League. I really like what he’s been doing and it’s been refreshing to see this team living up to the potential we expected from them. Geoff John’s writing has gotten even funnier and that tooth brush line was more than enough to set the tone for this Justice League book.
The series will continue with Rebirth and that’s more than okay with me.
Justice League issue 48 is today online and at your local comic book store.
