Those are the rumors at least. Bleeding Cool, that bastion of well researched truth (Rich, I kid, I kid!), is reporting that their “sources” tell them that to bolster Supergirl’s sagging ratings the cast of the CW’s The Flash will make an appearance on the CBS network show some time around May’s sweeps week. Supergirl started out strong but is losing viewers weekly, and according to this “reliable source” CBS hasn’t ordered the “back nine” episodes to bring it up from 13 episodes to 22. If they do order the additional episodes, would the STAR Labs crew bring in new viewers? Maybe. With Greg Berlanti producing both shows, as well as Arrow, it could be possible. It has been said by the producers that both shows share the same universe, after all. I have reached out to Berlanti for comment, but have not heard back as of yet. The thing is, the CW is partially owned by CBS, with Warner Brothers owning the rest, so technically speaking it is possible, but not too likely.
According to the same source, Matt Ryan may be returning to the screen as chain-smoking, supernatural detective Constantine, for more than a cameo this time. The source claims that Constantine will be joining DC’s Legends of Tomorrow for its second season in 2017. Constantine’s vocal fanbase has been screaming for more, even going as far as a petition on change.org, especially since his brief appearance on Arrow a few weeks back, but will they get what they asked for? I guess we’ll have to wait to find out. I have reached out to Matt Ryan about the rumor, but he has not yet returned my tweet. Bleeding Cool says that the mid-season replacement will be switching up its missions and cast with every season, which could be likely, and that they are looking to cast Vampire Diaries‘ Steven R McQueen for an unnamed role in the program for next season as well.
But, it is Bleeding Cool posting this news.
I’ll let you know if I get confirmation, because as cool as these rumors are, they are still just that.
