Our weekly dose of Injustice 2 shows The Society making their move in the all-new Injustice 2 Shattered Alliances Part 4 Trailer
This is the trailer I’ve been waiting for! WB Interactive Entertainment has just released Injustice 2 Shattered Alliances Part 4 to debut The Society. The Society is led by Gorilla Grodd and is composed of many of earth’s villains, giving it a very Legion of Doom sort of feel. Where The Regime was composed of the most greatly powered heroes and villains in the planet, and in some cases the universe, The Society is composed by mostly highly specialized individuals who have creative minds to apply their skills. Not to say they themselves aren’t powerful forces to be reckoned with, but most of these characters wouldn’t go blow for blow against Superman. In the power vacuum left by the fall of The Regime, it makes sense that the villains, who seemed to have been all but ignored during the conflict, would have bided their time and consolidated their power to pick up what is left of the pieces.
At about 40 seconds, however, there’s a part that really annoys me. Superman and Batman standing around a covered table that is revealed to be the Justice League main table with a huge crack in it. The imagery of the broken Justice League embodied by the huge crack in the table is brilliant, however, I don’t like that The Society seems to be forcing Batman and The Resistance, to have to work with Superman and The Regime. I don’t want Superman to have a saving grace, I like the aspect of him being broken, and believing he can save everyone by ruling. It embodies a lot and can be applied to a lot of aspects in society. I’m also not a huge Superman fan. Not a fan as in, he’s the team I like seeing lose sort of thing. I’ll still go to the game, read the books, watch the shows, and torture myself with Zack Snyder’s completely inept rendition. I respect the game and Superman is a great player in it; I also really liked Smallville. But this is the freshest take on Superman since Smallville and is the opposite of Snyder’s mess, I don’t want to see him work his way back to redemption unless they show him UTTERLY defeated. For all his power, he amounts to nothing. That’s what I want to see. Then I can accept that he’s working his way back, and snapped back into the big blue boy scout. Otherwise, like Hal Jordan, I feel it is a cheap and forced storyline that will cheapen the amazing lore that has lead up to this.
I apologize for the existential breakdown of the Injustice 2 Shattered Alliances Part 4 trailer. I really enjoy these super hero conflict stories. You won’t believe how many breakdowns of Marvel Civil War I did and earned rave remarks in college. I can do some amazing ones with Injustice‘s story. Anyway, Injustice 2 releases in a little over a month for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One (May 16th, 2017). Pre-Order now to get Darkseid as a playable character.
