Eeny meeny miny mo, catch a Cheetah by the toe- Wait, that’s not how it goes – Injustice 2 Cheetah Gameplay Trailer
Warner Bros Interactive Entertainment and Nether Realm Studios bring us a brand new character trailer for the upcoming Injustice 2. This gameplay trailer introduces long time Wonder Woman rival, Cheetah! To be honest, I know little to nothing about Cheetah except for what I know about her from the Super Friends cartoons. However, I am going to go hit up the DC Wiki after this to go learn more because Cheetah looks as raw and savage as her name suggests!
The Injustice 2 Cheetah gameplay trailer highlights Cheetah up close and personal playstyle. What is most impressive is how much she seems to be able to move in such an enclosed space. It doesn’t look like cornering this predatory cat is a good idea, as her close up combat seems to have a dimension other characters are unable to operate in. Keeping Cheetah at a distance would seem to be the obvious tactic, but in the trailer you see Deadshot not able to do so. Granted the trailer is designed to show Cheetah’s best, but it shows her dodging and closing the gaps with ease. I have a feeling Cheetah might become a fan favorite character.
My one gripe is Cheetah’s special. It reminds me too much of Spider-Man’s Maximum Spider from the Capcom fighting games. The bone-crunching sound effects and hold on the final blow are nice touches, but it really seems like Spider-Man’s special with Wolverine slash graphics. Granted, as many fighting games as there are, it’s hard to be completely unique and the super definitely fits the character, I’m just picky and scraping for something to point out.
My only real disappointment is that it was not a story trailer, which I am really waiting for… I NEED TO KNOW WHY DAMIAN GOES BACK TO ROBIN! Also free the Teen Titans from the Phantom Zone! But we have less than 2 months to wait, so I guess I’ll be patient.
In development by the award-winning NetherRealm Studios, Injustice 2 features a massive roster of DC Super Heroes and Super-Villains and allows players to build and power up the ultimate version of their favorite DC characters. The game will be available for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on May 16, 2017.
