Hitcase Pro 2.0 Withstands All – iPhone Case Review

Ever since my first iPhone, most of my cases were meant for super protection and were very bulky. I am pretty clumsy and know I need a case that will protect my phone from the occasional drop. Some argue whether or not a bulkier case protects the phone more, but the bulk provides me reassures me the phone is well protected. Through trial and error, Otterbox and Speck became my go-to cases, but they weren’t exactly aesthetically pleasing. My phone looked like a brick and weighed as much as one whenever it fell on my face. I chose not to try the LifeProof case because everyone I knew that bought one said water still leaked into the case and the waterproof feature was a big reason why I even considered it. Which brings me to Hitcase.

Hitcase Pro 2.0 is a one-of-a-kind phone case that began on Kickstarter, had a very successful campaign. The package included the phone case, two lenses, and an attachment for easy setup with mounts. Based in Vancouver, Canada, Hitcase created Hitcase Pro 2.0 to be the adventurer’s phone case that would “protect their most valuable devices, and provide new ways to be creative.”

Durability
I have a bad habit of tossing my phone everywhere and mounting it on different spots only to watch it fall, having a durable case is important to keep my phone alive. I have dropped my phone several times with the case on, both accidental and on purpose, and was happy to see there were no cracks on my phone. It has held up to being dropped on dirt, on concrete, at the gym, on the corner of the case, and even straight flat on the ground. I’ve even dropped a 10lb plate on my phone while it was on the ground and it had no cracks. I will mention the plate fell flat side down, but I still say it was impressive for the phone to not have a crack. I’ve dropped it in the toilet (accidentally) and my phone was completely dry. I changed my phone not too long ago because I accidentally dropped it in the toilet, so I’m happy to say I won’t have that problem again anytime soon.

Lens
I use my phone frequently to film myself at the gym to check my form. With the normal iPhone camera, I set up my phone relatively far away from where I am lifting. This lead to people walking in front of the camera and just an awkward camera in the middle of the gym in general. The lenses help decreased the awkward distance while maintaining good quality video. The durability of the case also came in handy when someone knocked down my phone too. Both lenses come with a protective rubber covering with different coloring to make it easier to pick out from your bag.

Cleaning the phone case was pretty easy and straightforward, but I do recommend cleaning it often. Although, we should probably be doing this with our phones already. I have oily skin and I tend to touch my phone even when I eat, so the marks build up fast. If a picture comes out blurry with the case, I recommend cleaning the inside and outside part of the lens section on the case. It took me a week to realize the problem was not the lens itself, but the dirty case that I neglected to clean.

Cons
I only had one issue with the Hitcase Pro 2.0. Every once in a while, a caller will have difficulty hearing me. After I adjusted the case, the caller was able to hear me clearly. I need to mention I have a glass screen protector on my phone, and while it did fit with the case, it was a very tight fit. This may or may not have affected the caller’s ability to hear me. Unfortunately, I have no way to confirm if it did because I always have a glass protector on. So, to avoid the issue I’ve been using bluetooth earphones to speak and haven’t had any issues since.

After about a month or two with the Hitcase Pro 2.0, I can say the phone case is one of, if not, the best case I’ve ever had. I have the durability of an Otterbox case, a case that’s actually waterproof, and I don’t have to take photos from awkward distances. Best of all, it didn’t feel like a brick when it fell on my face. It still hurt, just a little less. The bumpers gave me the protective feeling from a bulky Otterbox case and the clear casing gave me the illusion the phone is not in a bulky case. At the same time, I can take amazing photos for Instagram with my new lenses and not worry about dropping it in water.

I would definitely buy the Hitcase Pro 2.0 again, or any subsequent cases for whatever generation of iPhone we’re on, and recommend it to all my friends.
