As we get closer and closer to the greatest holiday of them all, Halloween, a slew of classic horror movies are being reissued in 4K Ultra High Definition. The latest title announced in John Carpenter‘s horror masterpiece Halloween. The timing of this 4K edition of Halloween is no accident. David Gordon Green‘s revamped Halloween sequel and, of course, just in time for the holiday which shares its name with the slasher classic.
The influence of Halloween is far and wide in the world of horror filmmaking. It inspired a slew of sequels of varying quality over the years as well as a remake and its sequel by Rob Zombie. Michael Myers is a horror creation that has haunted the screen ever since his 1978 debut, a silent killing machine that is brutal and practically indestructible. Halloween also marked the arrival of Jamie Lee Curtis, first cementing her status as her generation’s scream queen before she was able to transition into roles of all genres in the ’80s. Most importantly, Halloween was the breakout hit for John Carpenter that established the filmmaker as a master of genre cinema, amplified by the director’s musical abilities with his haunting score bringing chills 40 years after it first debuted.
Michael Myers comes home once again when Lionsgate Home Entertainment releases Halloween on 4K UHD on September 25, 2018.
