From getTV – CULVER CITY, CA – Tuesday, May 2, 2017 – getTV pays tribute to the incomparable Gene Roddenberry, airing five star-studded episodes of the STAR TREK creator’s debut 1963 military series THE LIEUTENANT on Sunday, May 14 at 11 p.m. ET, as part of the network’s Sunday overnight “Get Lost In TV” block celebrating classic TV rarities.
THE LIEUTENANT starred Gary Lockwood as USMC Second Lieutenant William Rice, with Robert Vaughn as Rice’s company commander Captain Raymond Rambridge. Together, the two men work together to fight trouble and corruption festering among fellow soldiers and superiors, alike, at Camp Pendleton.
The series was the first created by influential writer and producer Gene Roddenberry, two years before he changed the face of science fiction forever with his landmark space epic STAR TREK. The special event also includes rare guest appearances by Robert Duvall, Leonard Nimoy, Nichelle Nichols, Rip Torn, and Dennis Hopper.
